The advent of the Flash has revolutionized the face of the web outlook with its animation prowess and unique interactivity design ability. Flash websites have become a much popular alternative to the standard HTML websites all over the world. CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is the common style in HTML that can define the presentation semantics and also define the look and feel of the website. It is CSS that determines the text document and its fonts and font size, color as well as the presentation document. Adobe’s Flash provides unparallel web design and development edge in the WWW at quite affordable prices. So which one is better CSS based website or flash web design, let’s just take a comparative view of both.
CSS is easy to maintain and aids in styling website a website. It saves you the time and effort of opening aspx or a java file for making any necessary modifications if required and that too without affecting the content. Whereas Flash website is in contrast to this and it takes some efforts to make changes on the website. The front-end and the back-end can be developed easily through CSS. Flash is commonly known for its potential to create or add animation to the static HTML websites. It is Flash that gives life to the website and allows the user to more interactive. Videos can be uploaded on the website thorough the help of Flash.
The best part about Flash is that it provides the web designer with a lot of freedom and the designer can place the objects as per his/her imagination. This is due to the fact that the designer has nothing to worry about the absolute or relative constraints, resolution, z-indexes, and browser consistencies and so on. Flash also supports multimedia. Whereas on the other CSS is quite simple to use and in fact, it gained popularity due its simplicity but it does not support multimedia. Besides this one of the biggest problems with CSS is that is not compatible with all browsers.
However, this does not mean that Flash does not have any drawbacks. One of the problems of Flash website is that it requires the user to install the necessary plug-in; it also has problems regarding the videos compression. Initially, Flash also had issues with search engine crawlers though now it is no longer a problem as the crawlers can easily crawl through the flash websites as well.
Hence, each coin has two sides and therefore both CSS and Flash has its own disadvantages and advantages and it really depends upon you which one you wish to use for your website design.
