The second half of the 20th century and the first decade of 21st century has witnessed some of the greatest landmarks of technology era. Personal computers came, then came the laptops and mobiles. The lighter and handier technology became, more it was preferred. That’s what is behind the success of mobile phones. With the first mobile phone call of Dr. Martin Cooper in 1973, the inventor of the mobile phones, communication technology has just not looked back and we’ve constantly gotten served up with the new and better models of mobile communication. Adding sophistication to communication are the industry leaders – Nokia, iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, Windows Phone etc.
With an immense user base of mobiles that’s scaling up by leaps and bounds, the web technology has seen a great potential in mobiles. Earlier websites made for the desktops don’t have compatibility for the mobiles due to technical differences such as small screen etc., but they now need to be made mobile compatible if the companies want their branding, advertising, and marketing to reach maximum number of web users. With an estimate of about 5.8 billion mobile subscribers worldwide by 2013 and another that mobile phones will overtake PCs as the most common web access device worldwide by 2013, it’s easy to develop an outlook as to why all the current desktop/laptop compatible websites should have their mobile versions. Web development companies have to come into vigorous action and develop existing and new websites for mobile compatibility.
The mobile application development market is also blooming as the sales of mobiles and their more sophisticated editions, the smartphones, are skyrocketing. Application development companies can make apps for business promotions, business processes, or just entertainment that directly hit the target audience. It’s forecasted that the worldwide downloads in mobile applications stores will surpass 21.6 billion by 2013. With the growing popularity of smartphones such as iPhone and its likes and app stores becoming the focus for several players in the value chain, more consumers will experiment with application downloads. Web application development companies, again, have a big battle there with the challenge of who’s going to serve the best to the prospering app market.
So, the mobile development industry is heading where it should be. There’s no taking rest for the mobile website and mobile application development companies until mobiles capture the whole of the web for business and personal interests and we say that anything is possible on mobile.
