Commercial transactions through electronic machines is what one can make out from the word E COMMERCE. The birth forms of E-commerce, technologies like electronic data transfer (EDI) and electronic funds transfer (EFT), may not be so catchy as ONLINE SHOPPING, something that E-commerce has become synonymous to. The concept of B2C (E-commerce between business to consumer) originated about 25 years back and has grown substantially since then. Buying and selling goods and services on internet has become a trend, and there is nothing that can be shopped that you don’t find online!

Incorporating E-commerce into a business will depend on what type of transactions you want done electronically. For a retailer, it can go up to the extent of having an e-store, or an online store, only and no building equipped with a range of E-commerce applications such as instant messaging, e-mailing, enterprise content management, online shopping through tools like shopping carts and order tracking, and online payment system. The entire efforts have to be channelized towards making the online shopping experience of a customer a pleasant one. Not achieving so will end up in customer dissatisfaction and eventually losing him for the other. The success of an online shopping business lies in how easy and interactive you make it for the customer. An attractive and rich website is not going to fetch you more customers if your user interface features are unfriendly, your payment options are not secure or your order fulfilling is not timely. All this is to be taken care for the simple reason that you hold a virtual existence for the customer. How well the concept of online shopping work can be learnt from Amazon.com and eBay. If you are targeting to increase your customer value, simply make sure that you are not missing on how the word-of-mouth is working.

E-commerce technology to a seller simply means making money and to a buyer it’s convenience, price comparisons and broader selection. When a distributor or retailer chooses to have an internet presence, one thing he surely has in mind is to have a wider customer base and hence more sales. Shopping just doesn’t remain restricted locally for the one who sits to shop online and just few clicks are enough for him to get what he wants.

Trades and businesses have learnt to adopt Ecommerce Solutions for sophistication and profitability and consumers are blessed too with its enormous benefits. So, it’s a win-win for both!
