About 2Sense - Los Angeles

2Sense - Los Angeles is a new lifestyle blog that presents its content with an editorial style that is unique and full of flair. The overriding theme is “early ‘50s Southern California,” and the website and logo designs feature many exhaustively researched references to that place and time.

  • Unconvential, simulated desk layout
  • Realistic lighting and textures
  • Thoroughly researched 1950s-style aesthetic
  • All HTML and Javascript - no Flash

The Challenge

The client wanted the main concept of the website layout to be that of a desk. They also wanted it to appear as realistic as possible. These two requirements produced some unique challenges, mainly having to do with the problem of how to create (the illusion of) a 3-dimensional space primarily intended to display 2-dimensional content. Additionally, we had to reconcile the linear nature of HTML content with the desire to create a layout that didn’t appear too rigid.

The Solution

The final design balances the client’s aesthetic and conceptual concerns with the technical reality of working with HTML/CSS, javascript, and other dynamic web technologies. The final layout, while very creative and unorthodox, is nonetheless highly accessible and useable.
