Google To Enhance Its Image Search Service
Jul 22, 2010
July 22, 2010 - Google is to announce a major melioration of its image search at a press conference to be held in San Francisco. Bringing Google Images to light, the press conference is expected to include announcements about its update. Aiming for faster and easier image search, Google is about to bring to surface some visual web technology modification and refresh the beauty and functionality of GI.
It’s a matter of the next few days and Google Images will reflect a dense tiled layout making it possible to view lots of images at once. Image results will be displayed with no text surrounding them. Now, a GI page would allow you to see images up to 1000 and let you scroll instantly between the pages. You will get larger, hence visually better, thumbnail previews on the results page. Additionally, mousing over a given thumbnail image, you will get a larger preview and more image info. Now, a click on the image will straightaway take you to a full size version of it with the hosting website visible in the background. Clicking outside the image, you will land back to the original page. Some keyboard navigation optimization is done to give the power of standard keyboard shortcuts like Page Up/Page Down for speedier scrolling and quickly getting to the info that you need. There is a new ad format benefitting the advertisers too.
It sounds pretty big as things coming up will prove to be major contributors in enriching the aesthetics and scope of web visuals. Keep it up Google!
