Twitter Would Now Be Indexing Links For Search

The new search feature of Twitter can be considered as Twitter’s most interesting aspect that everyone would love to use. This is actually the strongest aspect of Twitter that had made everyone big company offers him or her price for sale. Good that Twitter did not get shaken by the offer prices. Mr. Biz Stone and Mr. Evan Williams, the co-founders of Twitter have announced yesterday that Twitter is not for sale. This would really be a very big shock for all the companies those were expecting it to be sold. The power of the aggregate data stored by Twitter would show its actual power when they show the power of the aggregate data. This was the actual reason why many of them showed so much interest in its purchase.

The new vice president of Operations for Twitter Mr. Santosh Jayaram (the former VP of Google’s Search Quality department) has spoken about some interesting things in a panel today. The most interesting fact that Mr. Jayaram has said is that Twitter would shortly begin link crawling. The whole Twitter team and others as well are sure that this would certainly take Twitter Search to the next level of growth and achievement. This change would completely change the idea and understanding that everyone had about Twitter. Twitter would now not only have textual tweets but would also have a long list of web pages similar to any other search engine.

However, it is a fact that Twitter would not be able to index as many pages as Google indexed but the good thing is that Twitter has come up with something that would mark a position in the search industry. Obviously, Twitter is not going to replace Google or compete with the search giants. Twitter is going to be a powerful search engine performing in its own style. It would certainly do well as it would be a small yet potentially capable real time search engine. Twitter would become a top class search engine soon if it just takes care of the spam that is expected to be coming in.

The strongest point or the greatest advantage that Twitter has right now is the real time factor. Twitter would be much faster than Google and it is actually because of the ability to send fast. However, every one is aware of the nature of web pages, how fast they are and this might become a problem in the growth of Twitter Search. Yahoo might as well be concerned on how efficient the performance of Twitter is. Though nothing is clear and sure, everyone is still wondering on how Twitter would make use of the web page content available to display the search results.

One more interesting fact is that Twitter itself is trying to tailor Twitter Search in order to have a reputation and build it into a good string search engine. At the moment, the results displayed are very basic and crawls only few links at a time but enhancements are going on and would be perfectly ready very soon.
