Cacique is an established, nationally-distributed manufacturer of cheeses and other dairy products, and the largest fresh cheese maker in the United States. The practice of old-world cheese making, coupled with a passion for culture, has resulted in their commitment to authenticity and tradition. This family-owned business conscientiously strives to make the highest quality cheese, creams, chorizos. and yogurt products in the marketplace.
Opportunity
Cacique came to PLAVEB with a clearly defined requirement. The company wanted to leverage the full potential of its online presence, to reach a wider audience through a website with superior visuals, and unparalleled interactivity. PLAVEB was put in charge of designing and developing a customized website, integrated with custom CMS, that was worthy of the company’s product portfolio. The website also needed to solidify the company’s position as the largest fresh cheese maker in the United States, and show that they are renowned in the marketplace for selling the best meats, yogurts, sour creams, table cream, and baked goods.
The company’s directive was clear: Develop a design that is neat, clean, interactive, and a perfect visual representation of business purpose, featuring a highly interactive product details and listing page, and comprehensive, custom CMS with dynamic controls.
Challenges
- Designing and implementing a highly interactive website design that is unique, uncluttered, and extremely user-friendly, and ensuring that the design perfectly represents the website’s core concept.
- Ensuring that the products listing and details page are interactive and dynamic, but very easy to navigate, and that they share the same neat and clean look.
- Implementing highly interactive, JavaScript-based pagination.
- Optimizing the resolution and loading time of images.
- Ensuring the background images will be a perfect fit with any screen resolution, and that certain graphic attributes maintain consistency throughout the pages of the website.
- Integrating a comprehensive ‘go auténtico’ contest module (with its own logo), offering features such as registration, video gallery management, and an interface that allows contestants to easily add the details of recipes; this module had to be dynamic, and highly interactive, with custom CMS and controls.
- Developing and implementing product, recipe, and content management modules that give the admin complete control over the management of product listings, information, recipes and content.
Execution
The client had particular needs for the use of certain design elements, and the placement of graphical attributes on the website. We ensured that our project execution team took great care to meet all specifications, by closely coordinating with the client at every stage of the design and development process. PLAVEB’s expert designers and developers ensured that only the best platforms and software were utilized, in order to guarantee a seamless project execution.
Results
PLAVEB has given shape to a website that is a collaboration of striking visuals, a clean layout, interactive features, and engaging content. The dynamic and customized CMS gives the admin effective control on the overall content of the site, with every change made on the backend reflected accurately and stylistically at the front end. We brought the client’s vision into form with this website, and enabled it to meet changing needs and demands, so that it will never lose its competitive edge.
Technical Details
PLAVEB used a collection of platforms for designing this website, including XML, HTML, CSS, jQuery, and AJAX Pro. The application is coded in C# and ASP.NET, runs on a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database, and is hosted on Windows Server 2003 with IIS 7. PLAVEB also implemented a built-in Error Notification System that sends error messages directly to the developer, without needing to inform end-users.
